rescued

I spotted this gem on the back of my neighbor's truck yesterday, just before a dump run. Yet another treasure for our graveyard garage.

This summer I get to be in not one, but two friends' weddings- Tegan's in September and sister-in-law-to-be Amanda's in August. So my brain is spinning in planning mode pretty much constantly.

Amanda and Bobby (Kevin's brother) are going rustic antiquey/casually elegant/fun backyard barbeque style. Colors are creamy white, "paper bag" brown, and barn red... lots of burlap, wooden elements, old Coke crates, and homey handmade touches everywhere.

I'm not sure how yet, but I know this old hutch will make a fabulous addition somewhere. For starters, I'm thinking a few coats of paint... knocking out those door panels and inserting chicken wire... finding funky old hardware. Maybe even adding fabric covered panels to the back.

Any grand ideas??

Dessert table :: serve pies in tins on pedestals, cookies, tarts, candies, etc. on the shelves. Or a beverage bar. Or a seating chart on the fabric panels, guest book table, cards and gifts table all rolled into one.

Pie station and self-serve drink bar were our first ideas, too! :)

Oh my goodness. Flow me some of those creative/visionary genes. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I would have the kids put stickers on it and use it as a puppet show stage.

I can see it a dark navy blue- for some contrast...

How about putting chicken wire in the back and some red flowers here and there, enlaced, to match the colors of the wedding?

Then you could use de shelters and the others spaces to serve sweeties and little souvenirs for the guests!

Once, in a cousin´s wedding, each one of the guests received lolipops in a "hanging door" (these little pieces of paper that hanging out of the doors in hotels - but I dont know the name of it in English... sorry!), that were hanging in the car´s inside mirrors! They had a "thank you for making our day sweeter" message! So lovely!

Kisses from Brazil.

I have one of those too:-) My grave-age:-) includes an old brass chandelier rescued from a friend's remodel, a $7 50's sewing machine, a cabinet made by my hubby in h.s. and various other things that will never fit in my house... but... oneday I'll have a house huge enough to fit all my 'treasures';-)
LOVE your find AND your creativity! Can't wait to see what you do with it:-)

you could do like a wine rack on the sides (or under for that matter) and have a serving hutch or something.

I could have bet anything your mom would have said navy too!!! :)

When is Amanda's wedding? Is mine before or after? If mine is after, we're painting it black, lining the surfaces with a gorgeous green patterned fabric, using crystal knobs and making into our cigar rolling and brandy tasting station...

I had the same thought as the first commenter, lala.
I see such a beautiful set up in my mind!
I'm sure you'll create something even better than I'm seeing in my head.
