new childrens art

We are in the midst of a kids' room re-do.
I have been on the hunt for cute, vintage-inspired art prints to frame in groupings (combined with photos) for each kid,
to suit their individual personalities.
It's so much fun to search for art on Etsy.
Tonight I got a good start... here's what's on its way:

for Camden-

(seriously thinking about adding red Martha glitter to the shoes, since she wears her beloved ruby slippers every day.)
sarah jane studios

Chayse- (with brown hair.)
sarah jane studios

and Chloe- (in hot pink.)
Keep Calm Shop

I can't wait to get them!

mini skirts.

A few weeks ago, after viewing a highly educational episode of What Not to Wear, Chloe kindly warned me: "No mini skirts after 35, okay?"

Ironically, when I turn 35, Chloe will be 16, and I'm guessing the tables will be turned & I'll be making a similar threat.

At this point, Chloe's words are hilarious, seeing as how I haven't really been seen in anything but frumpiness for months. So when Kevin and I planned a Valentine's date night, I dragged myself to Target to try on some maternity clothes. Fail, fail, fail.

It may seem ridiculous, but being a small person presents serious shopping problems. When I say nothing fits, I mean NOTHING FITS. Right before I got pregnant I actually had to buy a GIRLS size 12 skinny jeans from Old Navy. My pants have the same adjustable waistband as my kids. Awesome. And they don't fit correctly because 12-year-olds don't have child-bearing hips. Three months later, I can't slide them past my thighs.

So maternity clothes don't fit. My regular clothes don't either. I found this non-maternity dress that seemed like it may work, so I tried it on.

Mini skirt.

Totally over the dressing room, I bought it. (I'm not quite 35 after all.)

But it really was too mini.

So I pieced together a bunch of scraps in my favorite prints, ruffled up the strip, and added it to the dress.

Chloe approved and let me leave the house.

twins

(I'm talking about Kevin & Camden, not my pregnancy.)

Since it hasn't happened yet, I'm wondering if this next kid will come out looking anything remotely like ME!

Cookie Monday

Let's just say I had the energy to bake today.
{I so don't.}
I'm thinking these would be great contenders:

Strawberry Spirals found at Little Bit Funky.

Or these choco-dipped Rice Krispie Treats by The Creative Crate!

...Maybe next week!
