Kid Clutter!

Today Wendy from The Shabby Nest is hosting The Taming Kid Clutter Linky Party, where fellow bloggers can share ideas for containing clutter. What a cool idea! I thought it would be fun to participate, as I'm currently in the process of a kids' room makeover myself!

This is what works for me to help keep the never-ending chaos under control:
super inexpensive practical plastic containers from Target...

{smaller containers for the little stuff}

{larger under-bed containers for stuff like tractors & trucks}

{creativity closet}

{this is one of my favorite toy-collectors, but at $44 each, a whole roomful is sadly not quite in the budget}
Inspiration for the new room...
My goal is to find the balance between practical {above}, and perfection {below}.

{I love this room, but with a little boy sharing with his big sister it will have to be more trees, birds, blues, and greens... pinks & fluff, not so much}

{love the green storage shelves} ***

Off to check out everyone's brilliant ideas!

Oh... and when you visit The Shabby Nest,
be sure to read this post.

Small world!

I love that same little girl's room from PBK. I have been trying to copy some of the elements without breaking the bank.

I really like all the plastic containers. I have some but you've inspired me to get more.

Funny! I have that same girls' room marked as my main inspiration as I am in the planning stages for my daughters' room. Great minds think a like. And great organization with all of those bins!

Wow! You've got so much good storage going on over there, it gives me goosebumps! I just love seeing everything so "in it's place".

You could definitely improve on the photo girl's room, to share with a boy. Make mutual colors the main focus, and let them have their own gender accessories. The tree limbs over each bed would be very cool. You could let them each make their own out their favorite things. Easy weezy!

Thanks for stopping by today. I had so much fun visiting all the great ladies!

Little Wash Wash-
I WISH that was my home!! No, that was a model home done by Design Line Interiors in San Diego, who I do artwork for. I painted the lime/chocolate hockey chairs to look like pucks and sticks. The room was photographed for Better Homes & Gardens (years ago), ended up on Wendy's blog, and I just happened to find it yesterday!

How cool that those chairs made a reappearance and you happened to find them!

Love it! I love a good cheap bin to tuck away for storage!

;) Though, I am looking forward to the day when I can leave art stuff "out" at an accessible level, without the fear of little ones running with scissors, eating markers and painting themselves purple.

Thanks for your post.

cut job heather! By the way we are going into a "Condo" apt style life here next month. I need HELP! For ideas to decorate and downsize. I sold all my furnt and gonna start new. I was trying to come up with a Plan or theme. I had thought of the Red White blue more RED tho .. i think similar to your mom's but than i saw bedding with the BLACK & WHITEs and add a touch of baby blue for softness? but would that bee too much - BLK & WHITE tho would be kinda cool. Or would it get depressiing in a small space? Kelsy likes Music and her tv and stuff so I thought i could do that in her

So perfect! I love how labeled everything is. I've got the storage but haven't taken the time to label which I'm sure would be a time saver.

Thanks so much for joining our party!
Great post!

Love all those bins!

Funny! That bedding is the inspiration for the bedroom re-do we're planning on doing later this month for my younger daughter.

Wow, you are so super organized. I love all the labels! I think this is what I need to do!

That pottery barn room is so pretty. I save every single catalog so that I can steal ideas from each one for the future.
