Birthday Countdown!

I have been a busy little bee preparing for our upcoming Bug Party!
What has the soon-to-be birthday boy been up to?
Receiving some birthday money in the mail from Auntie Sis & Uncle Kevin earlier this week, I told Chayse he could spend it downtown, any way he pleased.
The Dairy was an easy choice!
He treated his sisters to strawberry & vanilla swirl cones.

Yesterday there was a period of about half an hour that I was banned from the kids' bathroom. Chayse- with Chloe's private drawer of glittery lotions, smelly chap sticks, and fruity body sprays wide open- was busy at work "making Camden pretty."

{Chloe being a safe distance away at school of course; this NEVER would have occurred in her presence!}

He lotioned her up, sprayed her with a gallon of perfume, applied 20 layers of watermelon lip gloss, spray-conditioned and combed her hair, and completed the look with a headband and fancy bracelet (which really dressed up the gray turtleneck & blue Cal sweats I had the poor girl in). I wasn't allowed to peek until the makeover was complete.

{See the stylist himself, above, admiring his work
(don't mind the shiner).}

{Kevin, if you're reading this, rest assured this all took place between a rough game of tackle football and a session of rolling around in the mud.
Your son is indeed very masculine!}

Today I will be working on party hats (with antennae) & goody bags (nets full of gummy bugs), and finalizing the menu for the Bug Bash!

So adorable. I love that you're the type of mom who lets her kids do that and doesn't stress out about the "mess" and stuff. You are so awesome Heather. :)

Chayse is such a doll! And I love you reassuring Kevin about Chayse's more masculine activities. Hilarious! :)

bug party= Have you come up w/some cool ideas for food (bug related)?
Idea but kids probaly wont like it...celery w/cream cheese and raisin on the top. Supposed to be "ants on a log". That may be stretching it a little (saw in a magazine)
Good luck w/the party!!

Yes, there will definitely be "ants on a log" involved. (Except using peanut butter & mini choco chips). We'll have everything from "Butterflies" (Farfalle pasta salad) to "Snail Shells" (Turkey wraps sliced into 1-inch slices and layed flat to look like the swirl of a snail shell). If it's not bug-related, it's not on the menu! I'm anal about a theme, but I can't help it. I get it from my mom. She gets it from her's...
