Juicy Details

In general, I'm not a fan of juice for kids, with the exception of 100% organic citrus or pomegranate juice. Most juices are a waste of calories, and you miss out on the health benefits of whole fruit. Plus, too much can lead to diarrhea and tooth decay. My kids don't get more than six ounces {of the good ones mentioned above} per day. But let's face it, you can't beat the convenience of a juice box for school lunches or road trips! Many "juice" box ingredients are scary! Even 100% non-organic juices can be loaded with pesticides. These R.W. Knudsen Organic Sensible Sippers, from Whole Foods, are our favorite portable thirst-quenchers. They're pre-diluted with water and come in cute little 4 ounce boxes. Check out this great article with juice box facts, including the benefits of buying organic, and a few good sources. So start your label-reading... and don't forget, juice boxes are recyclable!

I love those juices - some of the only ones I buy for Leila. I also get her Mots for Tots, and the Hansens water juice
